Editoral Review

Lauren Myracle’s “The Infinite Moment of Us” is a coming-of-age novel that explores themes of love, self-discovery, family dynamics, and friendship. Myracle is an award-winning young adult author who has written several novels, including “ttyl,” “Peace, Love & Baby Ducks,” and “Shine,” which was a National Book Award finalist.

Her writing style is known for its raw honesty, relatable characters, and poignant storytelling. The plot of “The Infinite Moment of Us” centers around Wren Gray, a high school graduate who is ready to embark on her journey after years of following her parents’ strict rules.

Upon meeting Charlie Parker, a free-spirited young man, Wren feels drawn to him and begins to question her family’s expectations and her own values. The story delves into their relationship as they navigate the complications of falling in love whilst dealing with the realities of growing up.

One of the strengths of the book is Myracle’s ability to create multifaceted characters that are relatable and authentic. She manages to capture the complexities of family dynamics, portray the ups and downs of new love, and navigate the difficulties of navigating life.

This thoughtful character development is what distinguishes “The Infinite Moment of Us” from other young adult novels of the genre. Myracle’s writing also comprises the beautiful and lyrical prose that draws the reader into the world of the main characters.

She portrays the beautiful landscapes and natural phenomena with detailed, vivid imagery, which makes the surroundings of the characters come alive. Despite this, the book does lack creativity in its plot structure, which falls into the typical “girl meets boy” story-line.

Moreover, the novel can seem predictable at times. In conclusion, “The Infinite Moment of Us” is an enjoyable read for young adults, with compelling characters on a journey of self-discovery through love and growth.

Although it may fall into the typical conventions of a coming-of-age story, its relatable characters and poignant writing style make it worth reading. This book is highly recommended for readers who enjoy a good coming-of-age novel with beautiful prose and relatable characters.

On a scale of 1-10, we rate the book 8.5 for its character development, style, and overall appeal.
